In many places in Taiwan, you will find allusions made to the world, our planet. You will find them as landmarks at the entrance to towns or villages as part of advertisement or posters and in many other situations as unlikely as they may be. This is true for this photo which was taken in Yuanlin, a town in Central Taiwan:
....
The message is simple, but sustainable: "We are part of the world, we belong to it even if our geograpical position is not a central one and even if we do not really speak the universal language. Yet, we want to be taken seriously. And isn't the world a united place, anyway?"
This message is a nice one: It reminds everyone who sees the symbol of the world of the fact that we all are actually one, that the differences which exist beween and among us are actually far less important than the things we have in common. It makes us hope that one day, this vision will come true. Implementing it in our brains every day, at times even unnoticed by us, is a way of reaching this target. And quite an efficient way indeed.
